These chrome bumpers were from a very early E-type. The bumpers are from ‘flat floor’ early variant and is believed to be from the first E-Type exported to France. It was chassis #16 (I incorrectly said it was #19 in the video). See all the stages we went through to restore the chrome to it’s former glory. CLICK ON THE VIDEO BELOW.
I have a ‘59 Royal Enfield Constellation project in the USA. Chrome tank has several dents. I am not sure about the inner condition. Someone suggested pulling out the dents as much as possible. Then heavy copper coating, polishing away much of the copper, leaving what filled the remaining little dents. Once a continuous smooth surface is established then do the chrome process as usual. Sounds very labor intensive. Comments?
Hi Joe,
The dents need removing 100% before polishing / chroming. You cannot remove dents with plating. If you want to see how it is done take a look at this video of us restoring a BSA tank https://youtu.be/hLcS5O6oJG8
